The GREAT Race
Introduction
We are excited to introduce the second season at the GREAT FISH RIVER OLR with a changed race route and adjusted entry fee to be inclusive to all. Most ONE LOFTs have become team focussed and or just too very expensive for most. Our aim is to become the greatest long distance inclusive one loft race in South Africa.
How does the auction work?
Each fancier will enjoy a 50/50 (loft/fancier) split on the sales price after auction costs. A combination of online and venue based auctions will take place in the weeks following the last race for the season. Only the top selected birds will make the premier auction.
Loft Intake?
The great fish river one loft race is open for intake from 1st September 2023 till 31st Janurary 2025. Unfortunately, no late entries will be accommodated. The reason for this is first and foremost in the best interest of the pigeons and their health. All pigeons can be tracked via the benzing live site
Race Program?
The great fish river one loft race is a 7 race program for young birds only to take place in the South African winter season (June-July-August-September). The program is structured to include short distance races (200km-400km) , middle distance races (400-600km) and long distance races (800km+). All races are subject to weather conditions and all fanciers will be notified of any changes to the training schedule and race program.
The race's flight path is East / South East from the West Coast of South Africa to the East Coast!.

Rules and Regulations
All birds will be auctioned off at the end of the season with a 50/50 slit (loft/fancier) after auction costs! ONLY if a pedigree is supplied!!! Please
The minimum activation fee is payable within 30 days of the bird's arrival at the loft.
ALL birds in the loft MUST be activated by the entrant BEFORE Hotspot 1
All birds not activated after first option will be made available to the public
Activated birds paid for become the property of the owner (payee)
Unpaid entries thereafter become trackers, i.e none activated automatically become the property of the loft at Hotspot 2
Any tracker bird cannot win main prize money but will auctioned to fly for a special race in Hotspot 5. Tracker bird may be auctioned at season end.
Loft reserves the right to remove any tracker bird for any given race
